Stella Nzembi a well wisher from Mbilini has stepped up as a voice for widows in Kangundo North Ward, Machakos County, after donating cash and materials to support their economic independence.
Speaking during a visit to local Widow groups, Nzembi emphasized the importance of table banking as a tool for uplifting women and urged the groups to use the funds wisely and ensure accountability for sustainable growth.
In addition to the cash boost, she provided supplies for soap-making and other income-generating activities, reaffirming her commitment to supporting grassroots development.
“I believe in the strength of women, and when we empower widows, we empower entire communities. What I would urge you is that you ensure there is accountability for sustainability.” Nzembi said.
The widows applauded her support and appealed to other leaders to show similar concern for vulnerable groups.
“We as widows have been left behind, but now we can see the light thanks to Stella, who has always supported us,” said Serah Mueni.
They also highlighted the dire condition of the Mbilini–Kikambuani road and called on local leaders to prioritize its grading to ease transport challenges.
According to them, tangible development is yet to reach them decades after independence.
