Kamba Benga artist Kyalo Kasee of Kalandini Boys Band and 4 others were arrested in Kitui for impersonating Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers.
Addressing the press after the arrest, Kitui County Finance CEC Peter Mwikya Kilonzo revealed that the five tried to defraud one of the officers in the finance department.
He added that what got their attention was when the 5 tried to arrest the officer over corruption allegations and they said they would not take him to the police station.

“In the evening the Department of Revenue Collection was attacked by people who were impersonating police from EACC and how they arrested the officer in charge of the department raised the alarm,” CEC Peter Kilonzo said.
“After they made the arrest they took the officer into their car and said that they would not take him to the police station and they took him to his house because they had heard he has several millions and they wanted to take that money as evidence in the court, ” he added.
Confirming the incident Kitui Central subcounty Police commander Peter Karanja said that after receiving the report of the impersonators he sent police to arrest them urging the public to be on the lookout for impersonators and make reports when they get them.
“We have gotten information that people were impersonating EACC officers who arrested one of the officers at the finance department and wanted to take him to his house instead of bringing him to the police station,” said the subcounty commander.
“When I got the report I sent my officers who arrested 5 people, 4 men and 1 lady, and brought them to the station. We have contacted the regional manager for EACC to confirm if the suspects who are now under police custody are employers of the commission, ” he added.
