After close to a week of heated exchanges between Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Kalembe Ndile former Kibwezi MP over debts, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka moved swiftly to reconcile the two.
Kalonzo and Kalembe met Sonko, Nairobi Governor in a zoom meeting. Kalembe had accused the Nairobi Governor of failing to pay debts of over 6 million but Sonko dismissed the claims as extortion. Kalembe reported the Governor to the police and the case was referred to DCI Headquarters.
“Sonko was called and we had a zoom meeting and he agreed I owe him money and apologised. The case I went to report to the police cannot be withdrawn for now as police have to investigate the claims. If I go and withdraw the case in future they might see me as a joker.” The Kibwezi MP told the media.
The former Kibwezi MP who owns the Macha Bee Hotel promised to report to the police the people who led demos to his hotel last week accussing him of grabbing land meant for a road saying he incurred losses that particular day.
“People ran away with bills fearing Mumo and the Bodas Bodas he brought here. I have no problem with the Boda Boda’s I know things are tough because of COVID. Action will be taken on the organizers. I own this land and I am the one who gave them the road.” Kalembe added.
The two have been very close friends for some time. In June 2019, Sonko secured the release of workers from Kalembe’s Macha beach hotel after they were arrested by Machakos County officers who shut down the hotel.
