Kalonzo reaches out to Mueke in a bid to broker truce

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has vowed to reach out to Ex- Nairobi Deputy Governor Jonathan Mueke in a bid to broker a truce.

The two shared the same podium during the burial of the late John Wambua in Mwingi. In a statement that seemed to lure Mueke to drop his Kitui gubernatorial bid, Kalonzo expressed concerns that he didn’t know earlier that Mueke was eyeing the seat.

“Mheshimiwa Former Deputy Governor kijana yangu Mueke I wish you told me earlier that you want to come home and run, I would have advised you,” Kalonzo said.

Mueke seemed surprised by Kalonzo’s remarks and didn’t expect that since several leaders have shown interest in the Kitui gubernatorial seat using the Wiper ticket.

Kalonzo also praised Mueke saying that “Mueke is one of my able young men but I will talk to you after this we need to have a session because this community is more important than an individual.”

Last month, Mueke came out to explain why he left Wiper Party and decamped to United Democratic Alliance (UDA). In a statement posted on his social media handles, Mueke stated that “For those who keep asking why I left the Wiper Democratic Movement – Kenya for UDA PARTY… This clip by William Ruto is your answer.”

In the video, DP Ruto stated that they are building a national movement (Hustler Nation) and a national party (UDA) and that tribal parties can’t sort out the challenges the country is facing.

It was clear that Mueke was reckoning the words of DP Ruto hinting that Wiper party is a tribal party.
