Kalonzo Musyoka Opens Up on 40-Year Love journey and Wife Pauline’s Illness

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has offered a heartfelt reflection on his enduring love story with his wife, Pauline Musyoka, revealing intimate details about their relationship, challenges, and unwavering faith over the decades.

In an emotional interview with TV47, Kalonzo took viewers through their journey that began in their teenage years at a Christian conference held at Alliance Girls High School. At the time, Kalonzo was a Form Five student in Meru, while Pauline was in her second year at Mulango Girls in Kitui.

“Both of us attended the conference, and some people were speaking in tongues. We just sat there wondering what was happening,” Kalonzo said, laughing. “So we started a conversation.

That light-hearted moment would spark a relationship rooted in faith and love that would span over four decades.

Their bond strengthened through university days and long-distance education, with Pauline later heading to India and Kalonzo earning a scholarship to Cyprus in 1978. The couple tied the knot in 1985, and as of 2025, they mark 40 years of marriage.

Kalonzo candidly shared the pain of watching Pauline battle a prolonged illness—an experience that made him consider stepping away from politics to focus on her.

“Quite frankly, with an unwell wife, it has occurred to me severally—I could just quit politics and take care of her,” he confessed.

“But I know Pauline wouldn’t agree. She’s a vision carrier. She knows where we’ve come from and what we’re meant to achieve, so I keep going.” Kalonzo added.

Despite not revealing the specific nature of her illness, Kalonzo spoke of the powerful moments and prayers that have kept their hope alive. He mentioned visits from a Bishop from Canterbury and gospel artist Israel Mbonyi, who played the guitar for Pauline.
“One day she will stand and walk,” he said with firm faith.

Kalonzo’s commitment to his wife remains steadfast. “I know that if I were in a similar situation, Pauline would take even better care of me. So, I can never do enough for her—my role is to bring her comfort and pray for her healing.”

He also addressed the public’s curiosity about Pauline’s absence at their daughter Damarie Saada Kalonzo’s wedding in Naivasha in December 2024, clarifying that a separate ceremony was held at their home so Pauline could be part of the celebration.

Kalonzo’s story is not just one of political ambition but of deep personal love, resilience, and devotion—a testimony to a couple who have faced life’s trials hand in hand, never letting go of each other or their shared faith.
