Kalamba police officer caught pants down by EACC detectives


EACC detectives on Tuesday nabbed Justine Arati, a police officer based at Kalamba police station, Nzaui sub-county, Makueni county for demanding a Ksh 3000 bribe to release a motorbike he had arrested.

It was alleged that he took the motorbike on May 31st while enforcing the dusk to dawn curfew, and detained it at the police station. He took the owner’s phone number and continued demanding the amount to release the motorbike something that prompted the owner to report the case at Machakos EACC offices where they laid a trap with treated money and arrested the officer Tuesday.

“EACC Machakos received a complaint from a resident of Kalamba location in Makueni that Mr. Arati Police officer base in Kalamba police post was requesting Sh 3,000 in order to release a motorcycle,” read a statement seen by Mauvoo News.

Confirming the incident, Mr. Benard Juma who led the operation said the suspect was booked and has been released on sh. 20,000 police bond at Machakos police station.

He will appear in court at a later dates after further investigations.
