Thange Ward MCA Eric Katumo is the youngest member of the County Assembly in Makueni County.
Elected during the 2022 general elections on a Muungano Party ticket, he is recognized as one of the youngest MCAs in the Country as well.
Here are some quick facts on the 33-year-old first-term MCA.
MCA Eric Katumos first job was a loans sales officer. He used to get 1.5 percent commission noting that for sometimes he had to go home without a salary if he did not make any sale.
In a recent interview, Katumo disclosed that he wanted to be a police officer as his dream job.
The smily MCA added that he feels he has a sense of comedy inside him, and he is very afraid of shame.

Katumo’s favorite sport is Football, and on whether he prefers calls or texts, he said calls work more as you can close the matter at once.
Katumo has also been vocal on the compensation of Thange oil spill victims. Locals are still suffering effects 10 years later, with many struggling with diseases such as Kidney failure and stomach illnesses. Crop failure has also been rampant.
Last week Senate Energy Committee also visited the ward to assess the effects of the oil spill. In some areas, oil can still be spotted.
Beyond his legislative duties, Katumo actively participates in several key committees within the Makueni County Assembly. He serves as the Vice Chairperson of the Gender, Children, Youth, Sports, and Social Services Committee and is also a member of the County Public Accounts Committee and the Broadcasting and Communications Committee. These roles demonstrate his commitment to diverse sectors, including youth affairs, financial oversight, and communication.
