Inside President Ruto’s Week-Long Ukambani tour

The Ukambani region is set for a flurry of activity as President William Ruto kicks off a week-long development tour starting Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

The visit, packed with infrastructure and housing project launches, underscores the government’s commitment to accelerating development and improving livelihoods in the Lower Eastern counties.

Wednesday, October 15

The President will begin his tour in Mwingi West, where he will inspect progress on the Kwasiku–Migwani–Mbondoni Road Project. He will then proceed to Kitui East to officially launch the tarmacking of the Zombe–Mwitika Road, a key transport corridor expected to enhance trade and connectivity in the area. Later in the day, he will head to Kangundo to launch the Kangundo–Mwala Road.

Friday, October 17

The President will resume his tour in Kibwezi West, where he will launch the tarmacking of the Emali–Ukia Road, before proceeding to Kitui South to flag off the Ikutha–Mutha Road Project.
In Kitui Central, Ruto will preside over two major functions — the launch of the Affordable Housing Project and the official opening of Ithookwe Stadium.

Sunday, October 19

President Ruto will join worshippers for a church service in Mwingi Central.

Monday, October 20

On Mashujaa Day, the President will lead the nation in celebrating Kenya’s heroes and heroines, marking a day of reflection and unity.

Tuesday, October 21

The Head of State will visit Makueni County to inspect the Wote Affordable Housing Program, before moving to Mwala to launch the Kivandini–Miseleni Road and the Mwala Cluster Water Project.
Later in the day, he will be in Machakos to commission the Machakos Affordable Housing Program and officially open the Mutituni Market, aimed at boosting local commerce.

Wednesday, October 22

President Ruto will wrap up his Ukambani tour in Mwingi North, where he will launch the Kandwia–Kamuwongo Road, before heading to Kilome to commission the Mikuyu Bridge, a critical link expected to improve connectivity in the area.
