President William Ruto Friday met with 8 MPs from Machakos, Kitui, and Makueni counties allied to Kenya Kwanza.
President Ruto highlighted three key areas that were deliberated during the meeting; the housing programme, the Last Mile Connectivity project, and the establishment of digital hubs.
“We discussed the housing programme, increasing access to power under the Last Mile Connectivity project, and the establishment of digital hubs in every ward across the country,” stated President Ruto shortly after meeting the MPs.
The leaders who met President Ruto include Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse, Mwala MP Eng. Vincent Musyoka, Masinga MP Joshua Mwalyo, Kitui South MP Rachel Nyamai, Machakos Township MP Caleb Mule, Kangundo MP Fabian Mule and Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai.
Mutuse speaking after the meeting revealed that, together with the President they aligned several development projects including roads, water, electricity and housing.
According to Mutuse they also discussed the ongoing labour export programs so that qualified youth from their constituencies can start going overseas to work and help their families.
Mwala MP noted that the Digital economy and connecting rural Kenya to power remains a top priority in President William Ruto’s government. Kawaya also revealed that their discussion also centred around the president’s forthcoming visit to the region.
“The President has allocated a good budget for these agenda and a lot is happening on the ground,” stated Kawaya.
Machakos Town MP Caleb Mule said he had secured classrooms for Muthini, Muslim Town primary, Machakos Baptist and Hostels for Machakos University, Machakos Town KMTC, Manza KMTC, Machakos Teachers college and Machakos school for the blind and a mega dam.
These MPs have in the past weeks faced a lot of hostility from their constituents for voting yes to the Finance Bill.
