Individuals and various organizations have heeded Makueni County Government’s appeal for collaboration in fighting the coronavirus pandemic by contributing to the Coronavirus kitty.
The efforts range from financial commitment, provision of water tanks to aid in handwashing, to distribution of safety kits and food staff to support vulnerable groups.
The Eden Supermarkets has today donated food items worth Shs 7.5 million to Makueni County Covid-19 Emergency Response Committee in a bid to support vulnerable groups in the wake of the coronavirus.
The Eden supermarkets director James Mbaluka said that the donation targets at least 4,000 vulnerable families in larger Kibwezi. He spoke at Wote town after handing over the food consignment to Governor Kivutha Kibwana and his deputy Adelina Mwau at their offices in Wote. The donations will help those living hand-to-mouth.
The items include 1,750 bales of maize flour, 500 bags of 25kg rice, 1,000 jerricans of 10-litre cooking oil, 500 cartons of bar soap, salt and hand washing jerricans.
Makueni Governor professor Kivutha Kibwana also received a donation of 1,650 surgical face masks and 96 bottles of 750ml sanitizers from Kwetu Sacco to be distributed to frontline health workers in the hospitals.
