The IEBC has been asked to disqualify the Wiper candidate in Nguu/Masumba by-election Eshio Mwaiwa after Wiper supporters allegedly attacked and injured a woman who supports Timothy Maneno in Kikuumini.
Addressing locals at a campaign rally in the area, Machakos chief of staff and Kibwezi west MP hopeful Mwengi Mutuse condemned the incident and called for swift action.
“People from Wiper have come here in Kikuumini and beaten a respectable woman and there are many witnesses because of her political stand. We ask police and IEBC to take immediate action.” Mutuse said.
“The police should arrest those who beat her and to IEBC Returning officer here, an obvious crime has been committed and people are seeing even before courts adjudicate the matter, the candidate who is being supported by those people to be disqualified forthwith from the election.” He went on.
Mutuse warned that if the candidate is not disqualified they will be headed to court to ensure that happens. Mutuse spoke during campaign rallies for Independent candidate Timothy Maneno and was accompanied by Governor Kibwana.
