Weatherman warns of Heavy Rains in Machakos Until mid-May

Machakos County Director of Meteorological Services, Dominic Kyalo, has issued a caution predicting continued heavy rains in Machakos until the second week of May.

According to Kyalo, significant rainfall is anticipated across most parts of the county, with a gradual decline expected in mid-May.

The director highlighted concerns over potential flooding as a consequence of these rains and urged residents to prioritize safety measures to prevent casualties and property damage.

“Residents residing along the Athi and Tana River basins, particularly in Matungulu, Ndithini, and Masinga, should be vigilant for potential floods. It’s advisable to relocate to higher ground if feasible,” Kyalo advised.

Kyalo further cautioned against crossing swollen rivers and emphasized the hazards posed by fully saturated dams due to the relentless downpour.

“Reports of structural collapses and infrastructure damage in Muthesya and Mumbuni areas have surfaced due to the intense rains, underscoring the need for heightened vigilance among residents,” Kyalo emphasized during his briefing with the Kenya News Agency.

Residents were also warned about the increased likelihood of lightning and thunderstorms accompanying these heavy rains. Kyalo urged individuals to avoid seeking shelter under trees or in unstable structures during stormy conditions.

The Meteorological Services director stressed the importance of preparedness and urged continuous monitoring of local weather updates and alerts as the rainy season progresses. Residents are encouraged to prioritize safety measures and heed official advisories to mitigate risks associated with the ongoing heavy rainfall.

Bisengo recalls day Katombi switched off his microphone live on stage

Producer cum Singer Toby Bisengo has recounted how Benga gospel artist Alex Kasau Katombi humiliated him live on stage by switching off his microphone.

Bisengo recalled one day when they had a difference during a live show in which Katombi was a guest hosted by Dj Biado in a popular club in Nairobi. Before Katombi was welcomed to perform, Dj Biado welcomed Bisengo to greet the fans something that angered Katombi to switch off his microphone.

“There was a day I was coming from an event then I decided to pass by Montanna Lounge for a drink. I found that Bazu (Katombi) was to perform alongside other artists, before Bazu came to the stage my friend Biado requested me to come and greet people because he saw me seated,” Bisengo explained.

The Katolo hitmaker added that he was hesitant to go to the stage but Biado insisted that he should go on stage to greet his fans and so he accepted.

“Biado is a pushy person so when he insisted I went on stage to greet the people. The fans were happy to see me and you know some people get drunk they can insist I play one song for them. They told me to play one of my songs but I refused,” the Katolo Hit maker said.

Bisengo told them that it was not his day to perform but they insisted and he had to sing one line to them. Little did he know that this had angered Alex Katombi to the point of coming to switch the microphone.

“When I decided to sing one line of my song, just before I finished Bazu was already on stage where he switched off the microphone I was using because the Public Address System they were using belonged to him. I didn’t talk to him because in my heart I knew that it was not good to do so to my fellow artist and in front of the fans,” Bisengo added.

The next day Bisengo texted Katombi to tell him that what he did was wrong because they were all artist and thus they should not differ in front of their fans. However, Katombi allegedly never apologized but he justified that Bisengo should not talk in an event meant for Katombi. Bisengo said that he kept quiet because he didn’t like unnecessary beef and had no personal issues with the Benga artist.

Labour Cabinet Secretary calls for an end to Doctors’ Strike

0

Labour Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore appealed for a quick end to the ongoing nationwide doctors’ strike. She encouraged medical practitioners to return to work and participate in meaningful dialogue with the government.

Addressing the media Friday, CS Bore referred to the Labour Relations Act of 2007. Emphasizing its framework for resolving conflicts through dispute settlement processes, she highlighted that the right to strike is not absolute.

This implied that her ministry possesses the authority to interfere when circumstances require it. Bore additionally referenced the Employment and Labour Relations Court’s March decision, which imposed an immediate end to the strike. It directed the Conciliation Committee to support parties involved in reaching a resolution.

She emphasized the necessity of following this decision in order to reach an agreement. She therefore encouraged all parties to co-operate and act in good faith.

“The Head of Public Service has taken action in complying with the orders,” Bore stated, underscoring the need for everyone else to follow suit. She reiterated the need for the physicians’ union to suspend the strike and engage in negotiations with the Ministry of Health and the 47 county governments, pushing them to direct its members to get back to work to promote substantive discussions.

The CS stressed the importance of collaborating to help the government’s measures to restore normalcy in the local health system.

She voiced trust in stakeholders’ capacity to settle the issue, saying, “This matter has received attention at the highest level, and we should have faith in each other to resolve it once and for all.” The CS further urged medical practitioners to consider dialogue so it can consequently lead to a quick end to the continuing ongoing strike.
