A Kamba man is seeking help in reuniting with his wife who packed and left him. The man according to a message he had sent to a local radio station, his wife had left him because she was unhappy about him hugging the house help daily after work.

The father of two explained that his wife is a stay-at-home mom and every time he gets off from work he hugs his wife kids and even the housemaid.

He insisted that his hugs to the maid are just appreciation for the good work she has been doing especially with the kids but his wife has not been happy with it.

“My wife does not work and I don’t have an issue with that. Every day when I get home from work I always hug her, the kids, and the maid but my wife frowns when I hug the maid and I have explained to my wife that nothing is going on between the house help and me but she has refused to listen. I only appreciate it because the house help has helped so much more so with the kids,” he narrated.

The man said the wife sacked the maid and left with the kids carrying all his things in the house.

On calling her to find out what is wrong, she told him to marry the house help, this confusing him.

“I found the house empty and everyone had left, I was confused and called my wife who blasted me telling me to go and marry the house help,” he said asking for advice.

“The revenue officers in this county have become cartels, and all of you know that they have been pocketing revenue. I know yet I am situated here. I had a meeting yesterday with traders at Marikiti and I was shocked,” said Mutula.

“How can people operate like that when we have the government? It’s just not possible. The revenue officers must work under you and anyone not as working under you, upon your powers start the disciplinary process because the power is delegated to you so if you are not exercising you are abusing your power,” he added.

He also called for workers who discharge their duties well to be commended in a bit to motivate them.

“Similarly the fact that you are proud not to have a cautionary letter I’m wondering if you have a letter of good service. It works the same. Anyone who has performed well should have a commendation letter in their file. Let’s not just write to discipline people,”he noted.

According to the Controller of Budget, In the first nine months of 2021/22 Financial Year, the County generated a total of 476.6 million as own-source revenue, which was 43.7 percent of the annual target. This amount represented an increase of 20.1 percent compared to
396.7 million realized during a similar period in FY 2020/21.

The controller lauded the county for consistent and improved performance in revenue collection may attributing that to the implementation
of the automated OSR collection system called the Zizi County Revenue Collection System. With the new Governor putting in place more strict measures, the county is targeting to even further increase their revenues.

Reprieve for Drought-Stricken Mwingi Residents After NDMA Intervenes to end acute water shortage

0

Residents of Mbarani in Mwingi North, Kitui County will no longer walk for over 20 kilometers in search of water after National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) came to their aid to repair a borehole that has been non-operational for a long time.

Led by the NDMA chairman Raphael Nzomo, they also promised to rehabilitate and expand Mbarani Earth Dam to ensure that they end the water shortage in the area. Raphael revealed that they have spent more than 32.5 million Kenya shillings to drill earth dams and boreholes in Kitui county.

The chairman added that the 54000 cubic meters of Mbarani earth dam will be expanded to ensure that there is enough water for the residents so that they can use the water for irrigation and domestic use.

“We have launched Mbarani Earth dam which approximately holds 54,000 cubic meters. 5,000 households, 20 institutions, and approximately 7000 livestock are set to benefit from the utilization of the water and we have done this in various places in Kitui county where we have spent more than 32.5 million Kenyan shillings. We will see how we can make it bigger to serve more people. We have also rehabilitated a borehole that had been drilled a long time ago for the people which has a yield of 14 cubic meters per hour and is feeding more than 500 households with water,” Raphael said.

The residents were urged to make good use of the water and plant more trees to conserve water catchment areas. They thanked the NDMA for repairing the borehole and putting water taps so that they can fetch water easily and relieved them from traveling kilometers in search of water.

Locals also pointed out that when the Mbarani Earth dam will be expanded they will use the water for irrigation to grow crops and vegetables which will help them fight the acute food shortage in the region.

“We are grateful for this project because before it was implemented, we had to travel more than 10 kilometers in search of water from the nearby river. It was already drying and some of us don’t have donkeys and used our backs to carry water. We have benefited from this project because it is near and those without donkeys can fetch water. We have also planted vegetables hence reducing the cost of buying and the water from the borehole is free of charge. We are grateful to the NDMA and all stakeholders who implemented this project,” Celestine Muthaki Musee a resident of Mbarani said.

The residents promised to make good use of the water to better their lives and curb frequent drought in the area.

Wiper MP: Why we Advised Kalonzo to Opt for Senate Speaker

Wiper elected leaders have defended their move to advise Kalonzo Musyoka to vie for the position of the Senate Speaker instead of the National Assembly speaker.

Kilome MP Engineer Thuddeus Nzambia pointed out that they held a meeting with Kalonzo and told him that at the senate he stood a high chance of being the speaker compared to the National Assembly.

Nzambia said that Kalonzo also has other friends from the Kenya Kwanza team who can support his Speaker bid and vote for him.

“We sat with our Kingpin Kalonzo and advised him to go for the position of Speaker of the senate and they will be voting for him after the Senators have been sworn in for the parliamentary sittings to start. We as the Wiper party are confident that he will be elected with a majority of the votes from the house because he is known to be a humble leader who can lead the house in the right direction without taking any side. In politics, there is winning and losing, and just the way he scooped majority seats in Ukambani and as a respected leader in the country, the members of the Senate will vote for him,” MP Nzambia stated.

Concerning the next step after the Azimio One Kenya coalition party lost to the Kenya Kwanza coalition, Nzambia urged the Kamba community to remain calm as they deliberate on the best way forward for the community. He called on all the Wiper elected leaders to be patient as they decide on the way forward and not to be divided and misled by other parties.

“I would like to ask my fellow Wiper elected members to remain united as we have shown from the past because we have no hurry to go anywhere without any direction. According to the plans we have, we will continue serving our people with the leadership of Kalonzo Musyoka. If there is any side we will go to in the government we will go all of us and not particular people, we will unite together with one voice and one direction from our Wiper Party and we are not worried,” he added.

He revealed that they won’t blackmail or sell the Kamba community as some people have done by receiving tokens to support a certain coalition.

KWS threatens to halt Scholarships for needy kids in Makueni

The Kenya wildlife service (KWS) has threatened to withdraw its scholarship to needy kids living near Chyulu National Park.

Speaking during a meeting with locals, one of the wardens said that the locals have been burning bushes in the forest destroying it further. He noted that when fires occur in the park the money used to put them out is taken from the kitty supporting the students.

MCA Thange ward Eric Katumo defended the locals stating that they are not to blame for the fires. He called for leniency from KWS and called for locals to be allowed to graze and cut grass from the forest.

katumo further promised to hold various civic education meetings with the locals to educate them on the importance of the forest.

He called for KWS to also employ some of the locals to guard the forest.

“They give us scholarships for our kids and we are aware that the money used to extinguish the fires in the forest is taken from the kitty sponsoring the children. As locals we should know this park is beneficial to us and preserve it instead,” he said.

“We are requesting for our people to be allowed to be cutting grass from the park even if it’s once a week while under supervision because times are hard,” MCA Katumo added.

The locals promised to look out and find out who has been lighting fires in the park.
