The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has announced the suspension of the National Job Recruitment Programme, which was initially scheduled to run until 20th February 2025.
In an official statement, Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua confirmed that the program was suspended on 27th November 2024 and remains on hold until further notice.
Despite previous announcements, Dr. Mutua noted that some individuals continue to report to recruitment stations, unaware of the suspension. “Despite the official announcement made across all Ministry communication channels and my social media platforms, reports indicate that some individuals are still turning up at recruitment stations,”
He clarified that the only ongoing recruitment exercise is the Kisumu recruitment drive, set to take place on Friday, 7th to Saturday, 8th February 2025, as part of the Nyanza Investment Conference.
“I wish to clarify that the only ongoing recruitment exercise is the Kisumu recruitment drive targeting job seekers from Nyanza counties,” he explained.
Dr. Mutua urged the public to disregard the previous recruitment schedule and warned that no other hiring activities are currently taking place under the Ministry’s mandate.
“There are currently no other active recruitment activities under the Ministry’s mandate,” he emphasized. He further assured job seekers that the government would communicate additional updates at a later date.
With this announcement, job seekers across the country who were hoping to benefit from the recruitment program will now have to wait for further direction from the government.
The Ministry has advised the public to rely on official communication channels to avoid misinformation regarding future employment opportunities.
