Global Icon: Senator Tabitha Mutinda Elected to Prestigious International Board

Nominated Senator Maureen Tabitha Mutinda Munene is elated after receiving a major international honour following her election to the Board of Governance of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

In an official announcement to the Senate on Wednesday afternoon, Speaker Amason Kingi congratulated her and urged fellow senators to give her full support as she takes on this important global leadership role.

“Honourable Senators, I wish to inform the Senate that Sen. Maureen Tabitha Mutinda, MP, has been elected to serve as a Member of the Board of Governance of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and the IMF for the term 2025–2027,” Kingi said.

“The Board of Governance is charged with the responsibility of setting the strategic agenda and providing guidance for the activities of the Parliamentary Network. In this capacity, Senator Mutinda will represent the East Africa Region within the Board,” he added.

The news of Senator Tabitha Mutinda’s global recognition was received with joy by her fellow senators, particularly those from the Ukambani region.

Leading the group was Machakos County Senator Agnes Kavindu Muthama, who congratulated Senator Mutinda and urged her to make women proud in her new role, and to do her best for the country and the East African region.

“She was very passionate while seeking votes — I remember her coming to me and asking, ‘Have you voted?’ She truly gave it her all. Congratulations to her. Go and make us, women, proud. Stand your ground and do what is best for this country and the East African region,” said Senator Agnes Kavindu.

Kitui County Senator Enock Kiio Wambua also joined in celebrating Senator Mutinda’s achievement, praising her for setting the pace for women from Kitui. He commended her international recognition and encouraged her to go forth and make her mark on the global stage.

“To Senator Mutinda, I want to wish you well and assure you that we will support you in every way possible. Senator Tabitha Mutinda has set the pace for women from Kitui — let’s go for it, let’s do it, it’s possible. Go and conquer the world around you,” said Senator Enock Kiio Wambua.

Welcoming the news of her election, Senator Tabitha Mutinda expressed her gratitude on social media, saying she was humbled to be chosen as a member of the Board of Governance of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the 2025–2027 term.

She noted that in her new role, she will help set the strategic agenda and provide guidance for the network’s activities while representing the East African region.

“I am really humbled to be elected as a member of the board of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the term 2025-2027,” she wrote.
