Emali: Police officer arrested for hurling stones at colleagues during demos

A police officer working at Emali police station has been arrested for engaging in the Azimio demonstrations.

Officer Evans Otieno is said to have been among a group of youths who pelted stones at officers controlling protesters who had blocked the Nairobi,-Mombasa road on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to a police report seen by Mauvoo News, Otieno was also found with 40 rolls of bhang worth sh.2000.

“Evans Otieno of this command whose recommendation letter ref. kps/Dig/Est/Hrm/30/vol.v/4 dated 19th June 2023, was arrested today the 20th day of July 2023 along Msa/Nbi highway at Emali, talking to a group of young men who were blocking the road and throwing stones to motorists,” read the report.

“The said officer was also seen by his colleagues yesterday the 19th of July 2023 being among the rioters who were pelting stones at Emali police station Police officers. During his arrest, after a quick search, he was found in possession of 40 rolls of bhang (cannabis sativa) whose street value is approximately ksh. 2,000, “The report went on.
