Machakos County politics are heating up, with Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi firing shots at Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, accusing him of using ‘dirty tricks’ in his quest for the governor’s seat in 2027.
Speaking in Ikombe, Mwangangi alleged that Makau has been using his personal assistant (PA) to spread false and damaging information about Governor Wavinya Ndeti.
He said the PA circulated wild rumors, including claims that the governor was arrested in the UK with Ksh. 679 million and that her Kinanie home was raided by EACC officers, supposedly finding Ksh. 50 million in cash a few days ago.
“This kind of smear campaign is not only unethical, but it’s also disrespectful. Wavinya is family, and this is how Makau treats her?” Mwangangi questioned. “If he continues like this, he will lose any chance of becoming governor.”
Mwangangi revealed that the governor was so outraged by the allegations that she considered taking legal action.
“Yesterday, I spoke to her, and she was furious, ready to go to court. But I advised her there was no need. We need to be level-headed here. The tactics Mutemba’s PA is using won’t get him anywhere,” Mwangangi asserted, calling the PA’s behavior nonsense.
Drawing on his past experience with Makau in Parliament, Mwangangi issued a stern warning that he would take action.
“I know his capacity, and he knows mine, I won’t just sit back and watch. If this continues, I’ll take matters into my own hands.” he cautioned.
He opined that the governor’s seat may go to Masinga or Yatta after Wavinya’s tenure.
