A decomposing body of a Middle aged man was on Friday found in his rented house in Kitui town. The man, a teacher at Engineer Michael Ngilu Secondary school had gone missing for a few days.

The incident was confirmed by Deputy police commander Kitui County Julius Muthini who said that he was informed by neighbors who heard a foul smell coming from his house.

“I was told about the incident by members of the public, neighbors of the man (a teacher of physics and Mathematics) who called and said a bad smell was coming from the house and the owner had not been seen for the last few days,” Muthini said.

The Deputy Commander said that that he sent officers to the scene and the body of the teacher was found in bed and with no physical indication of bruises or marks.

“Officers went to the scene, broke the door where they found the teacher lying down in bed, dead and his body decomposing.” He added that the teacher had not reported to school since Monday and there was worry about his whereabouts.

Julius announced that investigations to unravel the mystery surrounding the death have began. The body was moved to Kitui level four hospital awaiting postmortem.

  1. It’s very unnerving. Mr Munywa was my Physics and Chemistry teacher years back during my High school days. The news of his demise through unclear circumstances is a mystery too deep and unfortunate to unravel.such Information has bruised me in so great a way and has left an indelible mark in my soul.To his family, relatives, Engineer Ngilu fraternity, tarchers, students, alumni, friends and neighbours…this is a sad day.
May Mr Peter Munywa rest in peace in sha Allah. inna lillahi wa inna ilehyi rajiun.
