DCJ Mwilu in Tears During Monica Kivuti’s Burial

Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu got emotional during the burial of Magistrate Monica Kivuti in Yatta Sub-county of Machakos County.

Speaking during the burial the Deputy chief justice was teary saying that even if the deceased had passed on in another way she would still be emotional.

Mwilu said it was a sad day for the judiciary for losing their own who was not sick but killed in the line of duty.

“Monica would have died any other way in fact had she died another way I would still have cried as much as I have cried today but not with the pain I am crying with today because Monica was not sick but killed by a senseless Kenyan who has no regard for the rule of law,” said Philomena.

The Deputy Chief Justice went ahead to say that she wished the killer cop would not have been killed so that he would give reasons as to why he shot the deceased.

“I wish the person who killed Monica would not have been killed so he could have given reasons as to why he killed Monica and who he was protecting,” said the Deputy Chief Justice.

Monica Kivuti was shot by a police officer at Makadara Law Courts and was rushed to Nairobi Hospital where she succumbed to the injuries on June 15, 2024.
