Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti and the National Government have been asked to intervene on behalf of Kasuitu Squatters.
Kasuitu Squatters are from the Athi River in Mavoko Subcounty of Machakos County and they are more than 5,000.
Addressing the press outside Machakos Law Courts after they had a court session concerning the matter, the squatters said that they had been taken for a ride by the National Lands Commission.
The squatters disclosed to Mauvoo News that they had been in the land since independence and many people had been taking them for a ride.
They revealed that they had been beaten and chased away from the land by unknown people and even to date they live in fear.
“We have really shed tears on behalf of Kasuitu our children’s placentas are buried in Kasuitu but we still live in fear, we are chased like dogs from our own land. Before these Steel companies came, they found us there and now we have nowhere to call home yet they have somewhere (Devki) to get income,” one of the squatters said.
“Governor Wavinya, MP Makau, and Senator Kavindu come and intervene, we voted for you and we cannot suffer when we have you, we want our land back,” another squatter added.
John Mwariri working with Kituo Cha Sheria who is representing the squatters in court as their advocate said that the case was in court and the judge had written to National Land Commission to appear in court in July to aid in the case failure to which arrest warrants would be issued.
