UDA senatorial aspirant in the March 18th senatorial by-election Urbanus Muthama Ngengele has gotten a boost after Kamba Gospel and Benga musicians endorsed him for the senatorial seat.

In a meeting attended by the dozen artists, they made their stand clear on their choice for the race.

Led by Kitole hitmaker Stephen Kasolo they thanked former Machakos senator and United Democratic Alliance chairman Johnson Muthama and vowed to back his political decision.

“This is the time for Ngengele to take the senate seat, we are all behind him,” said Kasolo.

The artists had earlier endorsed Lazarus Muli but he stepped down from the race a few days before the submission of nomination papers to the independent electoral and boundaries commission.

Urbanus Muthama Ngengele is among 11 candidates cleared last week to vie for the senatorial seat. It wouldn’t be far from the truth to acknowledge that he is among the forces to reckon with in the race.

The by-elections brought about by the death of Boniface Kabaka will be held on 18 March 2021. Other candidates in the contest include Agnes Kavindu of Wiper, John Musingi of Muungano, Simeon Kitheka of GDDP among others.
