Benjamin Mkapa told me I will be Kenya’s president – Mutua

Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has revealed that late Tanzania’s third president Benjamin Mkapa had told him that he would one day become Kenya’s president. The Governor said this while condoling the family and people of Tanzania after the passing of Benjamin Mkapa.

“I convey my condolences to the family, President Magufuli, and the people of Tanzania on the passing of H.E. Benjamin Mkapa. He was a great man, peacemaker, and was instrumental in the formation of the grand coalition. I remember his bear hugs. He once told me loudly, in front of many dignitaries, that I will one day be President of Kenya,” read the statement.

Mutua said that Benjamin Mkapa was an iconic leader to Tanzania, East Africa, and the continent at large, and the continent has lost a great leader.

Below are some of the reactions to Mutua’s remarks on Benjamin Mkapa;

Afrika Msanifu said, “Wow! you really made it about your desire to be president lol. That alone makes me hope you never become president.”

Andy Musalia said, “Don’t use his death as a platform to elevate your agenda, as far as I’m concerned you will never be president especially when a simple road from Kincar to airways imekushinda for 8 years.”

Cyrus Thairu said, “May the late president of United republic of Tanzania’s soul rest in peace & most importantly, may his prophecy come to pass. I believe with you have the capacity to transform Kenya if given a chance.”

“Even during mourning times someone must take advantage of the situation 😂😅.but why. Mutua ur already president of machakos. Hio ya kuwa president was Kenya sahau.” Shyne Kibunga added.

“They say many kind things but he wasn’t truthful on your presidency.May he rest well.” Kasiva Mutisya added.

“Hahaha that’s a big lie! you meant prezzo or president? Anyway mwanaume nikujichocha kiasi! But when the lie persist, someone becames a day dreamer.” Marcus Makosi added.

Kamau maurice said, “This is the death of one of Africa’s good men. Don’t use someone’s death to gain. That is wrong.”

The Machakos Governor has been severally said that he will run for presidency come 2022 after he has served as governor as he is the right leader to lead the country after President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Benjamin Mkapa was the president of Tanzania from 1995 to 2005 before he met his death today. He has been praised for among other things his great works and campaign for peace in the continent.
