Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has ordered the nullification of all recruitments and promotions done since August 2021.
In an executive order dated 31st October 2022, Wavinya cited increasing Wagebill which is currently more than half of the budget.
The executive order also asks the county secretary to stop salaries for any employee who earns salaries from both the National and the County government and ensure regular cleansing of payroll is done.
” That biometric identification of all staff is done to ensure county Government is not paying ghost workers, that monthly payroll audit is undertaken before payment of salaries.” Part of the executive order read in part.
“That all recruitments and promotions done between 1st August 2021 to 30th October 2022 alongside their respective financial benefits are hereby nullified forthwith.” The order went on.
This move has left county staff anxious, especially those who were employed in 2021.
