Fast-rising gospel musician Akim Muema has found himself in an unusual position, often being mistaken for renowned artist Wilberforce Musyoka. But for Muema, the comparison is far from a problem.
Known for his breakout hit Olanga Muyo, Muema admits that while many believe he shares more than just vocal similarities with Wilberforce, the two have had limited interactions.
“Yes, I’ve heard people say I sound like him. Some even think he’s mentored me, but that’s not true,” Muema shared.
“However, I deeply admire him. He has elevated the gospel of God, and that’s something I look up to.” He added.
Despite the admiration, Muema is carving his own path in the gospel music scene.
In a past interview, Muema disclosed that his journey began in Primary school, where he discovered his passion for singing, but it wasn’t until 2019 that he leaped recording.
Since then, his songs have garnered an overwhelmingly positive reception, earning him a growing fan base.
“I’m from a family of artists both secular and gospel, so what I can say is that I was born with the gift,”Akim went on..
His hit single Olanga Muyo, delivers a powerful message. “The song challenges people to step out of their comfort zones and seek God,” Muema explained. “These comforts can be anything from sleep and food to luxury and indulgence. It’s about prioritizing God above all else.”
