A 55-year-old man collapsed and died on Sunday outside a bank in Mwingi town, Kitui County.
Confirming the incident Mwingi central sub-county police commander Peter Mutuma said that the man who is known as Justus Kavindu complained of chest pains before he collapsed.
“The man who was accompanied by his 30-year-old daughter were on their way to Garrisa stage when he started complaining of chest pains and difficulty in breathing before he fell on the ground, ” said the police commander.
One of the witnesses Joyce Mwende speaking to journalists said that they saw a man fall down outside cooperative bank and rushed to the scene to find out what was going on.
Mwende found the man’s daughter who identified herself as Teresia standing beside her father and helped call her mother to inform her of the bad news.
“I saw a man fall on the ground and when I rushed to see what’s wrong I found a woman who identified herself as Teresia and told me that the man who was lying down was her father and he had just collapsed some minutes ago, ” she said.
“I helped her call her mother to inform her of the incident before the body was taken to Mwingi Level 4 hospital”, she added.
Police officers came and took the body to Mwingi level 4 hospital mortuary for preservation. Investigations have been launched to know the exact cause of death of the man.
