Kibwezi East MP, Jessica Mbalu, has raised an alarm over the worsening situation at Kambu Hospital in Makueni County, highlighting serious concerns about patient care and medical negligence.
The hospital has recently been under scrutiny following complaints from patients and the local community, amplified by a KTN report aired earlier this month.
Speaking on Thursday morning during an interview on Musyi FM hosted by Sir Mwenge, Mbalu described the situation as very painful, revealing that patients have suffered severe complications, with some even losing their lives due to inadequate care.
“We are receiving numerous complaints from the community—patients who were treated here and later developed serious health issues, or in some cases, passed away. It is very painful,” Mbalu said.
The lawmaker called on the Governor and the County Health CECM to take urgent action against negligent staff.
“If there is someone who is not performing their duties properly, they should be dismissed or held accountable. Unqualified or careless staff put people’s lives at risk,” she stressed.
Mbalu also emphasized the importance of proper care, especially for reproductive health, noting that mismanagement of such critical services threatens not just women but entire families. She urged all stakeholders—politicians, healthcare workers, and citizens—to work together to address these challenges.
“We cannot allow negligence in our institutions. This is an issue that requires strong unity to prevent further suffering,” she added.
The community is hopeful that Mbalu’s advocacy will prompt swift intervention, improve patient care, and restore public trust in Kambu Hospital.
