Furious Kimani Ichung’wah Blasts Kalonzo Over Development Failures

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has launched a scathing attack on Wiper Front Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, accusing him of neglecting his community and failing to deliver tangible development to the Ukambani region despite decades in national leadership.

Speaking in Maara Constituency, Tharaka Nithi County, on Saturday, during an empowerment drive to support SACCO groups and small and medium-sized enterprises, Kikuyu Town MP took direct aim at Wiper boss, accusing him of hypocrisy over his recent remarks on development in Kitui County.

“Like our friend from Ukambani, Kalonzo Musyoka, I heard him say that now that Interior CS Kithure Kindiki and President William Ruto have launched the construction of a modern stadium to be used during the coming Mashujaa Day celebrations, and initiated road projects in Kitui, he believes such developments are the right of Kitui residents. I agree with him,” Ichung’wah said.

Accompanied by Deputy President Kindiki, the Majority Leader sharply criticised Kalonzo, questioning why he had failed to deliver similar projects during his long political career.

“It is true that every Kenyan has a right to development, but it is also the responsibility of every leader to ensure that their people benefit. You were a Vice President, you served as a Cabinet Minister, and you represented your people in Parliament for over forty years. Why is it only now that you’ve realised that the people of Kitui deserve development?” Ichung’wah posed angrily.

He further called on Interior CS Kithure Kindiki to continue supporting President Ruto’s development agenda across the country.

“We ask our brother Kindiki to stand with the President and help bring development to every corner of this nation,” Ichung’wah added.

The President is expected to lead the nation in this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kitui County, to be held at the newly constructed Ithookwe Stadium. The president will also have a week long tour of Ukambani.
