Machakos County is poised for a weekend of high-stakes political activity as President William Ruto, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka are all expected to visit the region on Saturday.
President Ruto is scheduled to be the Chief Guest at the official laying of the foundation stone for specialized laboratories at the Eastern Kenya Integrated University (EKIU).
The event, which will also include the presentation of interim authority and funding for the project, will take place at EKIU’s Bishop Ngala Campus in Mitaboni, Kathiani Sub-County. The ceremony will be hosted by African Brotherhood Church (ABC) Archbishop Rev. Timothy Ndambuki.

Meanwhile, the opposition is expected to hold a parallel event just a few kilometers away.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Rigathi Gachagua and their allies will attend a clergy installation ceremony at Calvary Christian Church in Mutituni, hosted by former Machakos Town MP Dr. Victor Munyaka—a former ally of President Ruto. The event will be followed by a public rally in Mutituni.
With the two gatherings taking place in close proximity and involving key national political figures, Machakos is expected to become the epicenter of heightened political activity and public attention this weekend.
