Showdown as Kalonzo and Kawaya Clash Over Kindiki’s Appointment as Deputy President

A fierce political war of words has erupted between Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Mwala MP Eng. Vincent Musau, alias Kawaya, following the controversial appointment of Kithure Kindiki as Deputy President.

Kalonzo, speaking in Mitaboni, declared the appointment “null and void” after the courts temporarily halted Rigathi Gachagua’s removal from office.

In a direct attack on the government’s actions, Kalonzo accused leaders of orchestrating Gachagua’s impeachment to bury the “scandalous” Adani deals linked to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

“This impeachment is not about leadership, it’s a distraction. They want Kenyans to forget about the billions tied to Adani at JKIA. But justice will prevail. The court has spoken, and Gachagua remains Deputy President,” Kalonzo thundered, setting the stage for a political storm.

However, Kawaya, was quick to fire back, dismissing Kalonzo’s claims as baseless and insisting that the court order came too late to affect the National Assembly’s decision.

According to Kawaya, the National Assembly had already approved Kindiki’s nomination by the time the court intervened.

“The court order means nothing now. We’ve already voted, and Kindiki is the new Deputy President. Kalonzo is just trying to stir the pot because he’s feeling politically threatened by Kindiki’s rising influence,” Kawaya hit back, implying that Kalonzo’s opposition was more personal than principled.

Kawaya went further, questioning what the Kamba community had gained from Gachagua’s time in office, arguing that Kindiki’s leadership could be more beneficial for the region.

“What exactly is Kalonzo defending? Gachagua hasn’t done anything for our people. Let’s support Kindiki, who has already proven himself capable of building alliances inside and outside the government,” he added.
