Veteran Radio presenter Irene Nyanzi, popularly known by her on-air persona “Mwela wa Town,” has made a grand return to Mbaitu FM, the station where she built her reputation as one of the region’s most beloved voices.
Nyanzi left Mbaitu FM in June last year to join the newly launched Akamba FM. After a year-long stint, her reasons for returning remain unclear, but her comeback has certainly created a buzz.
Upon her return, Nyanzi was welcomed with ululations, The warm reception moved her, and she expressed her deep appreciation to the station’s management and listeners for their overwhelming support.
“The reception I have gotten I have never received it, even when I worked here before. Maybe because I was among the pioneers. I am so grateful for the reception and everything I’ve gotten,” she said, comparing her return to the biblical story of the prodigal son.
At Mbaitu FM, Nyanzi previously hosted the popular show Watinda Ata, which quickly became a listener favorite under her vibrant and engaging style.
Fans of the show are eagerly waiting to see whether she will resume her role or bring new flavor to the airwaves.
