The County Government of Machakos plans to recruit 1,000 youths over the next year for various casual positions focused on environmental cleanup, particularly in solid waste management.
The program, announced in a notice in the dailies Thursday seeks to engage individuals aged 18 to 35. It draws inspiration from the now-defunct Kazi Mtaani initiative and will involve hiring young men and women for roles across municipalities, urban towns, and markets.
“The County Government of Machakos is hiring 1000 Youths as casuals [Both Men and Women] across the County under its NG’ARISHA MTAA NA GOVERNOR WAVINYA NDETI PROGRAMME [Clean up exercise) in Municipalities, Urban towns, and markets for the next 12 months.” The advert reads.
“The clean-up exercise will focus on Solid Waste Management and for one to qualify, one MUST be a Youth [between 18-35 years) residing within Machakos County. The recruitment exercise will be carried out across all sub-locations in Machakos County on Wednesday 28 August 2024 at 8.00 AM at the Assistant Chiefs’ offices across the county on a first to arrive first to be enlisted basis.” The advert goes on.
