Five people were seriously injured after a hit and run road accident at Komarock, Matungulu sub-county of Machakos County. According to a police report in our possession, the accident happened along Nairobi-Kangundo road at Kwa Nguku area a few kilometers from Komarock market involved two motorcycles and a Prado.
The vehicle heading to Nairobi from Kangundo is said to have knocked one of the Motorcycles from the rear which in turn collided head-on with an oncoming motorbike due to the impact.
“It happened that the first rider was riding from Kangundo heading to Nairobi general direction and on reaching the location of the accident he was knocked from behind by an unknown motor vehicle and due to the impact he was pushed to the right side and consequently collided head-on with the second rider who was riding in the opposite direction, ” indicated the report.
Those injured sustained head and leg injuries and were rushed to Nguluni dispensary by well-wishers before being transferred to Kangundo Level 4 Hospital.
The two motorbikes were towed to KBC police station awaiting inspection while the police have launched a manhunt for the vehicle which sped off.
Matungulu Subcounty Police Commander Kipkemoi Kirui has urged motorbike riders to wear protective gear while riding their bikes to reduce the impact in case of an accident.
