4 Billion Water Project Set to Address Water Shortage in Mwala and Matungulu

Residents of Kyeleni and Matungulu North in Matungulu and Parts of Mwala Constituency can look forward to an end to their water woes with the upcoming water treatment plant, which will utilize water from the Ndarugo River.

During a visit to the project site, Matungulu MP Stephen Mule announced that locals whose land was used for the project would receive compensation. He urged Members of the County Assembly to introduce a bill to expedite the payments through the National Land Commission.

The treatment plant, located in the Kisekini area, will source water from the Ndarugo River in Kiambu County. This ambitious project is a collaboration between the African Development Bank and the National government.

“We will work closely with the contractor and the National government on this mega project, valued at KSh 4 billion and aimed at serving the people of Mwala and Matungulu sub-counties,” said Mule.

Mule expressed gratitude to the landowners who allowed the project to commence without prior compensation, assuring them that their contributions will be recognized and compensated.

Additionally, Matungulu North Ward MCA Mathias Mambo encouraged local youths to seize the job opportunities available at the construction site instead of remaining idle and complaining about unemployment.
